In Abruzzo, on the seafront of Torino di Sangro, between Pescara and Vasto, is located directly on the sea, SUN BEACH CAMPING. It is Located near the small marina, behind the natural reserve of Lecceta of Torino di Sangro, a wood of typical plants of the Mediterranean, the village is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation surrounded by nature. The complex is located on a flat area, shaded by thirty years poplars and pines , in front of it with a large pebble beach. Inside it's provided with brick one and two-roomed flats, wooden bungalows, mobile homes, all with bathroom, kitchenette and veranda. There are wide places for camping. The bathrooms with free hot showers have been recently renovated. There is also a provided area with out-games for children, a pool with slides, a bar (with video games, ping-pong), pizzeria, restaurant, supermarket. The Castle of Roccascalegna is a defensive structure located in the municipality of Roccascalegna, in the province of Chieti. Placed on top of a rocky ledge, in a dominant position over the area, the foundation has very old and suffered 'numerous additions between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
A trabucco is a massive construction built from wood, which consists of a platform anchored to the rock by large logs of pine of Aleppo, jutting out into the sea, from where two (or more) long arms called antemna stretch out suspended some feet above the water and supporting a huge, narrow-meshed, net (called trabocchetto).
The reserve covers 175 hectares in the municipality of Torino di Sangro, south of the mouth of the river Sangro, near the coast of the overflow symbol of this reserve is the Hermann tortoise, although the reasons for which 'became a 'protected area, and environmental importance since 1971, are due to the Mediterranean where the mixed oak, is the most representative species.
According to tradition, the town was founded by Diomedes, the Greek hero. The earliest archaeological relics date to 1300 BC, evidence of the first settlements. Histonium was one of the chief towns of the Frentani, situated on the coast of the Adriatic, about 9 km south of the promontory called Punta della Penna. The city is noticed by all the geographers among the towns of the Frentani, and we learn from the Liber Coloniarum that it received a colony, apparently under Julius Caesar.
The protected area covers an area of ??about 300 hectares between Casoli, Altino and Sant'Eusanio del Sangro, all belonging to the province of Chieti, at the confluence of the rivers Sangro and Aventine.
